The DDA contains wide ranging measures to combat discrimination that disabled people experience in their day-to-day lives. It is illegal for employers with 15 or more employees to discriminate against disabled people for a reason related to their disability.

The employment provisions form Part II of the DDA. Part III of DDA form provisions for service providers which came into force on the 2nd December 1996.

New buildings now automatically have facilities for the disabled designed into the new building. Our braille signs are widely specified by architects and are featured in the architectural ironmongery catalogues of most leading builder's merchants and architectural ironmongers.

For existing buildings some facilities for the disabled are easier to provide than others. Taktyle 'braille' signs are an ideal low-cost aid for the disabled and can provide the first step to conforming to the DDA.

Taktyle braille signs are manufactured in highly contrasting colours (between the letters/symbol and the background). The reason for this is that whilst only a small percentage of the population are blind, a much greater percentage of people are partially sighted - especially amongst the elderly.
